Scottish Highland dance is filled with legends and tales of Celtic princes, ancient battles, and daring escapes. Dating back to the 11th century, Scottish Highland dance is the traditional dance of Scotland.
The Minnesota Scottish Celtic Dance Association has been supporting Scottish Highland dance in Minnesota for nearly 50 years. As ambassadors of Highland dance, the MSCDA has performed all over the state of Minnesota -- dancing at the state capital to celebrate Tartan Day, at music festivals and even county fairs.
As competitors, our dancers journey from the shores of Lake Superior, to the mountains of North Carolina, up to Canada's Cape Breton Island and across the ocean to Scotland.
With dancers at every level of experience and training, the MSCDA has proudly preserved the culture of Scotland in Minnesota since 1962. As a volunteer organization, we sponsor public performances, workshops, competitions, and scholarships to continue providing opportunities to share this ancient and beautiful form of dance.
